As soon as I found out I was expecting, I dove deep into researching every baby item in existence. I immediately realized I needed some serious organization to contain the multitude of tiny things a baby needs! After hours of planning and rearranging, read on to see my variation of perfect baby storage and nursery organization! If you missed my nursery reveal, check it out HERE!
I knew I need a nursing station, sweet colorful shelves, a changing area, and plenty of concise storage for her clothes. I moved things around constantly up until her birth!
Bow Storage
I created Indi’s Hospital door sign with a wooden board, acrylic paints, my sister’s handwriting, and a spool of sequin ribbon. I used hot glue in a solid line to attach her newborn stats. I easily removed the “stats” by peeling off the hot glue – the consistent line and plastic sequins allowed it to separate easily to create a Nameplate and future bow holder! Although she has a good friar tuck do currently, I know this will be slam full of bows one day!
The Closet
Her room houses a teeny closet, so I immediately ordered THIS over the door container to add room to her closet. In addition to the rack I ordered more pegboard hooks, a “gift wrap storage band” for which to hang headbands, 4 acrylic cups for the pegboard, and an extra bin. The top pole hangs headbands, bows and bandanas from THESE clear shower hooks. Extra hooks are sitting in a basket hiding behind the bow
The pegboard holds sunglasses, teething necklaces, paci holders, baby necklaces, extra pacifiers, and baby slippers.
The next bin down holds structured shoes that she will fit in within 6 months as well as formal socks that are less for warmth and more as cute addition to outfits.
The next bin contains socks. I love these being eye level and so easy to access!
The next bin includes tutus and photo-op accessories.
Finally, the bottom bin holds teethers and hard baby toys.
I kept the inside of the closet pretty simple: 5 woven basket bins on the top shelf and floor- with 2 hanging shelves between. Clothes are sorted by age.
From LEFT TO RIGHT, the top shelf bins contain winter shoes, swim gear, and hats. The bottom bins contain backstock wipes, extra mattress pads and sheets, soft toys and lovies, blankets, and finally heirloom crochet blankets.
THESE BINS are beautiful, soft, well-made, and available at Target! They come in several sizes so you can choose one that fits your space best. They have handles and great faux-leather, removable handles that make them machine washable!
I have sizing separators for her clothes. So Brad and I are sure to never forget the accessories, I include bloomers using shower hooks around the crotch loop and matching hats or headbands with the outfit. If an outfit has a hat I put an extra HOOK around it so I remember it has another matching piece.
The Changing Station
The 1st large drawer of my changing table includes rolled up swaddles, diapers, and a container of wipes. I put excess diapers here after I fill the 4Moms Playpen that stays in our room.
The top left drawer houses mittens and excess toiletries. The top right drawer houses my personal birth items including perineal spray and excess breast pads. I also stored any baby equipment manuals there.
I’ve since reorganized this drawer, but I used THESE bins to organize her onsies, long sleeve clothes, leggings, and bloomers. From LEFT to RIGHT:
1. NB/0-3 month onsies
2. Long sleeve onsies, sleepers, & zippies
3. 6-9 month onsies/zippies
4. Bloomers
5. Pants and Leggings
Book Corner & Toys
The hamper is available HERE (size Medium). I use it for excess toy storage and stuffed animals that she is not old enough for yet.
Most of Indi’s books are upstairs in Brad’s study or the attic, but I am leaving a rotating group of books in THIS sunshine basket. We have actually already used her little luggage carrier 4 times and I love the size/simplicity of it!
The Nursing Station
I linked everything from her shelves in her NURSERY REVEAL HERE. I love shelves to hold heirlooms, keepsakes, and items I don’t want her to be able to reach until she is 3-4. It adds color but keeps them safely away from her for a few years.
The pink container at the bottom holds all her bath toys, lotions, and / or soaps. We just carry it back and forth to the kitchen until her bathroom renovation is complete. We keep her towels hung on the back of her bathroom door with THESE hooks and her bathtub in our pantry (since we bathe her in the sink).
I have not used this nursing station as much, but when I do it is GREAT to have everything in one place. Her sleep sacks stay in the LEFT basket. In the RIGHT basket, we keep a phone charger, the Haaka (a must-have for your let-down to catch dripping milk – tmi?), a burp cloth, a phone charger, and some snacks handy. A nursing mama is a famished mama!
SHOP THIS POST
Finally, I keep stoller covers, extra diapers, and etc. items under the crib. It is hard to get to these so I really just keep things I rarely, if ever use. What do you think?
